The Common Plecostomus or Plecos (Pterygoplichthys multiradiatus) is sometimes called a sucker fish and is of great value because it eats algae. They are excellent in any type of tank, IBC tote, or aquarium. They are a tropical fish and require warm water. People in Florida put them in their ponds to help control algae. We keep them in many of our tanks (including breeding tanks) and have found that they get along with any fish we keep them with. We sell them in three sizes, Medium (4 to 8 inches) Large (9 to 16 inches) and Extra Large (16 to 22 inches). Their color pattern varies from individual to individual.
